Decorah has made Forbes Magazine's list of "The Prettiest Towns in America."

Contributor John Guiffo we called on travel experts from Frommer's, National Geographic, Fodor's, and Midwest Living Magazine for help in compiling the list.  The result was 15 communities selected as places to visit.

Guiffo wrote, "A home for Norwegian-American immigrants since the 1850s, Decorah hosts an annual Nordic Fest every July, which attracts an estimated 75,000 people. Add to that the town's Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum – the country's largest museum devoted to one immigrant ethnic group. "Stay at the historic Hotel Winneshiek—or just outside of town at Little House on the Farm, a B&B built as a replica of the home on the TV show 'Little House on the Prairie,'" says Williams. Biking, fishing, hiking – even ice fishing – are all within an arm's throw of Decorah, and the best part is, you can leave your passport at home."
