County Planning & Zoning Commission splits on applications by Chimney Rock Campground.

The Winneshiek County Planning and Zoning Commission has rejected a request by Chimney Rock Campground owner Debra Keefe to rezone her property from A-1 Agricultural to C-1 Highway Commercial.

It was the second time this year an application to change the zoning classification of the property was rejected by the Planning and Zoning Commission.

However, the Planning and Zoning Commission has also recommended to the Winneshiek County Board the approval of a petition for a conditional use permit for the property.  That permit would allow Chimney Rock Campground to operate a medium service campground, making improvements to the existing campground.

The county board is expected to vote on the recommendation at its regular meeting on Monday morning at the Courthouse.
