White Castle is a family-owned Midwest restaurant chain best known for its hamburger "sliders." While the chain has many devoted fans of the burgers, it might not be the first place you think of when you want healthy eating. Until now.
White Castle has announced it has joined the Gundersen Health System 500 Club® and has begun offering healthier options on its menu.
The new program is "a very unique partnership," comments Gundersen Nutrition Therapy Director Jennifer Larson. "By combining some menu changes with moderation, we were able to offer some healthier options."
One of the menu changes made was adding the Grilled Chicken Slider. Other new White Castle 500 Club combos include two Original Sliders and one percent milk for 380 calories and one Grilled Chicken Slider, one Original Slider and one percent milk for 420 calories.
"Having White Castle as a 500 Club member drives home our mission of drawing awareness to the customer that healthier options can be found anywhere," says Larson. "This partnership broadens Gundersen's 500 Club preventive health outreach across the country, influencing healthier and mindful choices on a national level."
White Castle is a family-owned and run fast-food hamburger chain which was founded in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas. They have more than 400 locations in 12 states including 20 restaurants in the Twin Cities area.
