Registration has begun for fall ArtHaus classes.
A complete schedule of classes is now available on-line at www.arthausdecorah.org. ArtHaus Fall Calendars are available at the Decorah Public Library, Oneota Community Co-op, the Chamber of Commerce, and in the milk box in front of ArtHaus, which is located at 508 W. Water Street.
Art classes for children age 2-4 are offered on Saturday mornings in "ArtStudio for Tiny Masters." Young artists age 4-5 and 6-8 can register for "Big Art, Big Fun" (starting in September) followed by "Printmaking" (starting at the end of October) taught by ArtHaus Co-Director Lea Lovelace. Classes for older students include a design course called "Artists' Magic" for 9-12 year olds, and, new this year, the Oneota Film Festival's "Micro-Film Seminar" for students age 12-18.
Performance classes for children include the popular ballet and tap program for children age 3 and up, offered on Saturday mornings, as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Andrew Ellingsen returns for a second year of "Skape Sammen," the creative dance and xylophone ensemble offered in partnership with Decorah Community Schools on Monday afternoons at Carrie Lee for students age 9-12.
Evening classes for adults include Collagraph Printmaking, Indigo Dyed Silk Scarves, Block Printing, Saami Leather Bracelets, a handmade ornament workshop, basketmaking workshop, and the return of "Paper Worship: The Art of the Handmade Book." Spanish teacher Jim Tripp returns to ArtHaus with beginning Spanish and two Spanish book groups for a creative and effective way to acquire or improve language skills.
Early registration is encouraged. Tuition assistance is available for all youth programming thanks to support from The Depot Outlet and the many Friends of ArtHaus. To apply for tuition assistance, inquire upon registration. For children attending after school classes, ArtHaus offers a Walking School Bus from John Cline Elementary School with a stop at Northeast Iowa Montessori.
