July was cool and dry in Decorah

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says temperature were lower than normal in Decorah in July, as was precipitation.

Bernatz says the average daily temperature was 71.9 degrees, which is 0.6 degrees cooler than normal.  July's highest temperature of 93 degrees on the 17th and 18th and the lowest temperature of 47 degrees on the 29th were not extreme enough to set records.

Bernatz says 2.48 inches of precipitation fell during July--1.58 inches less than average.  July of 2013 was the 30th driest of the 120 Julys for which records were kept in Decorah.
