Winneshiek County Celebration of Life is announcing a new program, "Fuel for the Fight," which will providing money to pay for gasoline for area women receiving treatment for cancer.
All grants are awarded to women in Winneshiek County who are actively pursuing treatment for any form of cancer. The nominee must be female, age of 18 or older, in active treatment for cancer, and either a resident of Winneshiek County or having a family doctor who works in Winneshiek County. A $100 gas card will be sent to the recipient to help offset the expense of traveling to appointments and additional care required.
A simple nomination form is available at Margaret's Clothing store, Winneshiek Medical Center, Gundersen-Lutheran or on-line at http://bit.ly/FuelfortheFight. Nominations are accepted year round.
Completed applications need to be dropped off at, Margaret's Clothing store in Decorah, or mailed to PO BOX 314, Decorah, Iowa 52101. Nomination forms will be reviewed monthly.
Winneshiek County Celebration of Life is a community effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness and prevention. Through business sponsorships, individual donations and memorials, the Winneshiek County area has supported the health of their own mothers and daughters, nieces and sisters, friends and neighbors since 1998. In 2012, Winneshiek County Celebration of Life helped over 50 local women obtain preventative screenings.
