Iowa Governor Terry Branstad announced Thursday that President Obama has approved the governor's request for a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Winneshiek County and nine other counties impacted by June severe weather.
In addition to Winneshiek County, the counties included in the declaration are Allamakee, Benton, Buchanan, Butler, Cedar, Clayton, Delaware, Howard, and Jones.
The Governor sent the request for the declaration on July 18th in response to significant damage that was caused by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that began June 21st and continued through June 28th. This is the state's fourth Presidential Disaster Declaration for 2013.
Winneshiek County Emergency Government Director Bruce Goetsch says he has not yet received any information on when state and federal personnel will be in the area to deal with public infrastructure expenses and individual claims from the June weather related incidents.
