Out of town bike riders will have an easier time negotiating the Trout Run Trail in the future.  That's because new directional and informational signs have gone up on the Trout Run Trail.

The signs are aimed at informing bike riders and walkers about the locations of restrooms, parking lots and other Decorah attractions, including Luther College and downtown Decorah.

Other signs are aimed at telling the bike riders and walkers where the trail goes!  The arrows are aimed at preventing trail users from getting lost, which happened occasionally before the signs were installed.

The directional and informational signs were paid through a $2,550 contribution from the Decorah Rotary Club, using proceeds from last year's Loop de Loop half marathon and 5k that used Trout Run Trail for the course.  City of Decorah and Winneshiek County helped by providing sign stakes and donating the labor to install the signs.

These signs were installed at the north end of the Trout Run Trail Bridge after it was reported several bikers had gotten lost by heading towards the hotel instead of heading towards The Cut
On the other side of The Cut, these signs point the route of the trail, but also the direction to Luther College
This sign shows the way to Minowa Heights. Different colors were used on signs pointing to locations off the Trout Run Trail
Another sign shows the correct direction for the continuation of the Trout Run Trail
