Body of drowning victim has been recovered

Members of the Decorah Fire Department have recovered the body of 29-year-old Eric Langland of Decorah.

Langland had disappeared while swimming in the Upper Iowa River near the Upper Dam around 7:00 p.m. Saturday.  His body was recovered around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday approximately 3/4ths of a mile downstream from the dam.

Crews had deployed a net across the river at that location.  Firefighters discovered the body in the net shortly after they arrived on the scene Wednesday morning to begin their watch.
