US News & World Report names Mayo Clinic one of the best hospitals in nation

Mayo Clinic has earned the No. 3 overall spot on the 2013-14 US News & World Report annual America's Best Hospitals list.  Mayo ranked No. 1 in the nation in five clinical areas— gynecology, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, and pulmonology. In addition, Mayo is ranked #2 nationally in five additional specialties – cardiology and heart surgery, ENT, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, and orthopedics.   Mayo Clinic also received very high national rankings in Cancer (3), Rheumatology (3), Urology (3), Rehabilitation (5), and Psychiatry (7), and Ophthalmology (15).

According to the US News website, the magazine "surveyed nearly 10,000 specialists and sifted through data for approximately 5,000 hospitals to rank the best in 16 adult specialties."
