Luther College Emerita Professor of Art Kate Martinson will offer a workshop starting Thursday in the handwork technique of nalbinding.
The workshop, which will run through Sunday, teaches how to use this versatile fiber art technique to make hats, mittens and other objects.
"We still have this technique, often called 'knotless netting,' because people continued to practice it in remote areas of Scandinavia well into the twentieth century as part of an unbroken oral textile tradition," Martinson explained. "Nalbinding has been consistently transmitted person to person for thousands of years and the process is best shown directly," she continued.
