UPDATE: Bridge collapses in southern Winneshiek County

A bridge has collapsed on 210th Avenue southwest of Ossian.

County Engineer Lee Bjerke says the road had been closed after a neighbor reported seeing problems with supporting pillars of the bridge. But over the weekend the pillars gave way and the bridge collapsed.

Bjerke says the road closing will remain in effect until the bridge is replaced.
