TOP STORY: Nine people named to study committee for possible Decorah Community Recreation Center

A study committee looking into a possible Community Recreation Center in Decorah will meet for the first time Tuesday with representatives from the consulting firm of Design Alliance from Adel.

There will be 12 members of the study committee--Rich Gaard and Kent Klocke from the Decorah Park Board members, one City Council member (who has not been appointed) and nine community representatives.

The names of those community representatives have now been announced.  The list is led by former Decorah Park-Rec Director Rick Edwards and includes Keith Bruening, Joe Grimstad, Mike Harman, Ann Kephart, Sarah Larson, Andy Nelson, Rich Reiser and Michelle Whitehill.  Larson operates Anytime Fitness, while Whitehill used to operate RC-10.  Grimstad serves as a co-chair of the group that earlier looked into softball and soccer facilities on Pole Line Road.
