Jury selection will begin August 1st in the attempted murder trial of Cresco resident Daniel Wildman.

District Court Judge Mrgaret Lingreen has set Wednesday, July 31st as the date to hear all final pretrial motions in the case.  She has also ordered that 75 to 80 potential jurors be summoned to the courthouse on Thursday, August 1st, at 9:00 a.m. in order to have a pool of people as possible jurors.

Meanwhile, Judge LIngreen has taken under advisement a defense motion to hire another expert witness in the case.  Gilbert Alber would charge a fee of $1,350 to testify about the effects of drugs and alcohol on decision-making.

Wildman faces a total of five criminal charges, including three counts of attempted murder, for allegedly firing a shotgun at a group of three people in Calmar last October.  In previous court appearances, Wildman's defense attorney has tried to lay out a defense that Wildman's drug consumption meant he did not realize what he was doing.
