The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department was called at 3:37 Sunday morning to rescue a driver whose car had become stranded in the flood waters on 337th Street north of Decorah.
The driver of the vehicle was later identified as 20-year-old Brenden Curtin of rural Decorah. He stated he had not seen the water running over the roadway and after he entered the water his car stalled.
Curtin then climbed onto the trunk of his vehicle as the vehicle began to float crossways in the road. But Curtin's vehicle eventually did come to rest, still on the roadway.
Members of the Decorah Fire Department rescued Curtin from his vehicle. He was not injured.
The Winneshiek County Ambulance Service, Winneshiek County Engineer's Office and Bill's Auto Repair and Towing assisted the fire department and sheriff's deputies.
