Decorah City Council member John Franzen resigns his position

Once again the Decorah City Council is short one member.

First ward city council representative John Franzen says he has accepted a position with Swift Transportation.  He will begin work immediately. 

While Franzen will not be leaving Decorah, his new job will require travel, so he has contacted Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird and has officially resigned as councilman of ward one.

The Decorah City Council is expected to discuss on JUly 1st how it would like to name a replacement for Franzen.  When 2nd ward city council representative Julie Fischer resigned after moving out of her district, the city council decided to appoint someone to fill the remainder of Fischer's term.
