Extensive rainfall in Winneshiek County on Saturday is starting to cause flooding on both public and private property.
Winneshiek County Emergency Government says there are a number of roads in the county that are closed and bridges that are currently impassable. The county road crews are working to place barricades at those areas.
Continues the news release, "Additional rainfall is forecast, so we are asking residents to be aware that the risk for increased flooding is possible. Authorities are asking you not to be going out on the roads and putting yourself at increased risk."
"Do not drive into running water over roadways. It takes only a few inches of water to wash a vehicle off the road. Do not drive around barricades, they are placed for your safety."
Additional information will be forthcoming throughout the day.
