The Nordic Fest Board has named the 2013 Nordic Fest Flag Recipient and the 2013 Nordic Fest Grand Marshals.

Bev Christen has been named this year's flag recipient.  She volunteers for Winneshiek Medical Center, First Lutheran Church, Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce and Winneshiek County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Aase Haugen Home, Relay for Life and Nordic Fest.

Her involvement in Nordic Fest includes selling buttons and programs, demonstrating in the lefse-making window display and going to First Lutheran Church to help serve hundreds of visitors a taste of Norwegian food.

Trails of Winneshiek and Trout Run Trail volunteers have been selected as Nordic Fest Grand Marshals. Trails of Winneshiek (TOW) was formed in 2001 to develop multi-purpose, non-motorized, paved trails connecting destinations in and around the city of Decorah. For over a decade, this group laid the groundwork for the Trout Run Trail, working with land owner partners, numerous private and government entities, grant writers, engineers, contractors and financial donors to create the 11-mile loop trail.

Among those being recognized are Keith Christensen, John Hjelle, Harlan Satrom, Larry Grimastad, Mike Harman, Lindsay & Karla Erdman, Jerry Freund, Don Wurtzel, Mark Donhowe, Mike Huinker, Lora Friest, Kirk Johnson and many others.
