The Decorah Parks and Recreation Board is making a list and checking it twice. It's hoping that one of the seven potential locations for a community recreation center that it identified Thursday night will eventually wind up under the tree.
The City of Decorah has hired Design Alliance of Adel to investigate the sites, choose one and draw up plans for a community recreation center. On Thursday night the Pakr Board asked Design Alliance to investigate these sites:
--The Army Reserve Center
--The former RC-10 building
--The Wapsie Produce property
--The Winneshiek Co-op property
--Property owners by Winneshiek Medical Center
--A joint Park Board/School Board project
Park Board members also scheduled a meeting with Design Alliance for July 9th. A committee of two Park Board members, one City Council member and nine community representatives will discuss with Design Alliance employees what is needed in a community recreation center.
