The Decorah High School renovation project continues to be on track. The Decorah Community School Board heard Monday night that all asbestos abatement was completed, virtually all of any needed demolition projects were done, and that framing was underway on the science rooms. Crews are starting to install terrazzo flooring at the gymnasium entry area, complete with an inlaid Viking logo.

The School Board set Sunday, September 8, 1:00-3:00 p.m. as an open house date for the community to view the completed high school renovation. Work will be substantially complete by the start of school this fall, with some loose end projects continuing through the first semester.

Work is starting on the redoing of the Claiborne Drive and State Street intersection. August 1 is the scheduled completion date, but there is hope for an early completion by Nordic Fest time.

Demolition work has been completed and staff report the project to reconfigure Carrie Lee Elementary to create additional classrooms is going well. Work is anticipated to be completed by mid July.
