Yes, you needed an umbrella in May

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says May of 2013 was the fourth wettest May in Decorah since precipitation records started to be kept in 1895.

10.35 inches of rain fell in the city during May, which was 6.15 inches more than average.  May of 2013 still trailed May of 1941, during which 12.18 inches of precipitation fell.

Bernatz says Decorah has now received 3.12 inches more than average in precipitation during the last 12 months--the first time in 18 months that our 12-month total has exceeded the average 12-month total.
