More microphones will be installed for public hearings at Courthouse

Winneshiek County supervisors today promised that future public hearings held in the third floor courtroom will be easier to hear.

In response to questions from Decorah resident Joann Hagen, supervisors said additional microphones will be purchased that will work with the existing public address system in the large courtroom.

People attending the recent County Planning & Zoning Commission hearing on a proposed frac sand moratorium complained it was difficult to hear what commissioners and speakers had to say.

County Board Chairman John Logsdon told Hagen MOnday that upgrades will be completed to the court's sound system within four to six weeks.  "It's something that should be done," said Logsdon, agreeing with Hagen.

Supervisors also heard other suggestions, including having name plates identifying supervisors at county board meetings and having agendas available at future Planning & Zoning Commission meetings.
