Decorah Middle School 7th and 8th grade students have gotten lessons on the art of fly-fishing from several members of Trout Unlimited.
The students spent the morning learning the basics of fly-fishing, including learning how to cast, fly tying, and also identifying the different trout species located in Winneshiek County. Naturalist and Natural Resource Manager, Larry Reis, taught the students how to tie their own fly.
During the afternoon session, the students were then able to try out their newly learned skills, with many students successfully catching their first trout on a fly rod!
