On Thursday evening, after hearing from Dennis Martin of Garland Roofing company (a company that would not be involved in bidding roof repair), the Decorah School Board agreed to procure bids for rubber sealing on the metal seam roofs of the Decorah Middle School. Martin recommended this procedure as a long term solution that could last 8-12 years, or maybe more, and one that could be repeated beyond that time. Martin said that the leaks being experienced at the Middle School are not out of the ordinary, and he saw no need to consider a new roof. There are less expensive sealants that he would not recommend. The cost could be in the $60-70,000 range.
