School Board approves administrative and staff salaries

On Thursday evening the Decorah Community School Board approved remaining salaries for the 2013-14 year. Administrative total salary packages increased by 3.63%. Administrative salaries included Superintendent Mike Haluska, $148,250; Middle School Principal Leona Hoth, $86,575; Adam Riley, Assistant High School Principal and Athletic Director, $77,800; High School Principal Kim Sheppard, $105,910; Carrie Lee Principal Cheryl Miller, $73,700; John Cline and West Side Elementary Principal Rick Varney, $89,110; and Director of Technology Kurt DeVore, $72,156.

Support staff and other non-certified salary packages increased by approximately 4%, roughly paralleling the package for teachers.

Earlier this spring teaching salary packages negotiated with the Decorah Education Association increased by 4.1%. District teacher salaries begin with a base of $31,201, continuing to a maximum salary schedule amount of $68,315. Some teachers earn more than that with additional contracts such as coaching.
