A book written by a Decorah woman before she died in 2011 from complications from diabetes has won first place for the Midwest Book Award in the Fiction: Romance category of the 22nd Annual Midwest Book Awards.
Susan Nelson wrote "Zoo Girl," published by RocketDog Books. It won the first place award in the Romance Fiction category at the 23rd Annual Midwest Book Awards. The competition attracted 187 books, entered in 44 categories, from 75 publishers in the twelve-state Midwestern region. Some books were entered in more than one category—for a total of 308 entries.
The Midwest Book Awards are sponsored by the Midwest Independent Publishers Association. The awards program recognizes books for their creativity in content and execution, overall quality and their unique contribution to its subject area.
