More than 19,000 students from 368 schools nationwide participated in a recent math contest, and of the thousands of fourth graders who entered, twelve Carrie Lee students ranked in the top 10%.
The Noetic Learning Math Contest is a biannual math contest for elementary students. The contest encourages students' interest in math, develops their problem solving skills, and inspires them to excel.
Fourth graders in Rhonda Thompson's math enrichment program participated in the spring contest, and all received honorable mention by scoring at least 50%. Twelve students, Kendra Bigler, Emma Brauer, Sofie Grouws, Cael Gulrud, Leila Johnson, Emma Johnson, Noah Lovelace, Cael Luzum, Anja Madsen, Kaia Neal, Emma Nierengarten, and Cady Peterson scored at least 80% to achieve the National Honor Roll. L. Johnson, Lovelace, and Neal earned a second medal for being highest scorers on the Decorah team, with a score of 95%. Achieving honorable mention status was Matt Baker.
