Winneshiek County first graders plant trees

Jennie Murphy's 1t grade class at St Benedict's School were among the groups planting trees

Thanks to a donation from Fort Atkinson Nursery and the work of almost 400 elementary school students, Winneshiek County is a little greener now.

383 first grade and specialeducation students throughout Winneshiek County participated in planting seedling Black Hill Spruce trees.  Seven volunteers, including several Winneshiek County Master Gardeners, helped teach students how to plant and carefor their trees.

John Cline Elementary & Westside School and St.Benedict's School in Decorah, South Winneshiek Elementary School and DeSales inOssian, North Winneshiek School and CFS in Spillville participated in the treesfor kids program.
