A possible brake failure on a school bus owned by the North Fayette School District led to a three vehicle accident on Short Street at Highway 9 on Tuesday at 3:10 p.m.

69-year-old Thomas Grapes of West Union tried to bring the bus to a stop at the intersection, but the bus did not come to a stop as he applied the air brakes.  The bus crashed into the year of a car owned by 35-year-old David Myers of Decorah, which then was pushed into a car driven by 32-year-old Kevin Hoeltzle of Lanesboro.

When police arrived, they noticed a burning smell near the wheels of the bus.

The two car drivers complained of minor neck pains and drove to nearby hospitals to have that checked.  The bus driver was not injured, nor was anyone else on the bus.
