Posted: Thu, May 2, 2013 8:35 AM

The Decorah Fire Department was called out just before midnight Wednesday evening to the home of Henry Wilkins at 207 West Street in Decorah.  Law enforcement officers from the Decorah Police Department and Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene first and found a rabbit hutch on fire.  The fire was contained by law enforcement officers on the arrival of DFD personnel.

The fire was contained to one rabbit hutch.  Two rabbits appeared to have sustained burns from the fire.  Both animals had been removed from their cages by law enforcement personnel.  The hutch was a total loss.  The fire appeared to have started in the area of an extension cord near a heat lamp.
