Dr. Randall Bremner began working Wednesday as a full-time gynecologist at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.  He had originally been expected to begin work on July 1st.

Dr. Bremmer earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa and his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He comes to Decorah following a 24-year career at Covenant Clinic in Cedar Falls.

Winneshiek Medical Center officials say as part of the beginning of Dr. Bremmer's practice, the hospital has spent $69,000 to upgrade some of its OB/GYN equipment.

Dr. Bremmer will provide gynecologic care and surgery for women of all ages, including evaluation and treatment for abnormal pap smear, abnormal uterine bleeding, GYN cancer screening, infertility, menopause, pelvic pain or masses, PMS, sexual intimacy concerns, bladder problems and in-office placement of a permanent contraceptive (Essure).
