Decorah Public Library is beginning to loan out American Girl dolls

Decorah Public Library has begun checking out two new American Girl dolls to young patrons.

The Friends of the Decorah Public Library have made the purchase of "Kit" and "Marie-Grace" possible. 

Marie-Grace's story is set in 1853 New Orleans. She and her father have moved from Massachusetts back to New Orleans where Marie-Grace was born. A special friendship develops between Marie-Grace and Cecile Rey, a young voice student.

Kit's story is set in 1934 Cincinnati, Ohio during the Great Depression. Kit is a clever, resourceful nine-year-old girl who tries to help her family with spirit and determination.

Included with the dolls will be a paperback book, a journal for recording the adventures of child and doll, a brush and a Friends bag for carrying the doll. Marie-Grace and Kit can be checked out for 3 weeks with no renewal to young girls aged 8 years and older. The child must be a Decorah Public Library card holder in good standing (no fines or overdue outstanding materials). In the event the dolls are checked out, they may be put on reserve.
