The Girl Scouts' Camp Tahigwa in Allamakee County has been saved from being sold, at least for now.
So the next step is to hold a Clean-Up Day at the camp, to get the facility ready for summer programs. Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois are looking for volunteers to work during the May 18th weekend.
There will be plenty for everyone to help with, including cleaning and repairing buildings, cabins, tents and program areas. Families are encouraged to attend together for a day, overnight or two nights to help prepare Camp Tahigwa for the summer.
Camp Tahigwa is located at 318 Tahigwa Drive in Dorchester. The clean-up will run from 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 17th, through 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19th. Free meals will be provided to volunteers. Lodging is available at a cost. To sign up, contact Camp Ranger Gene Averhoff at 563-546-7755 or GeneA@GirlScoutsToday.org
