Decorah Wellness Center concept could be heading to the voters

The Decorah Parks and Recreation Board Thursday night voted in favor of hiring Design Alliance of Waukee to develop a site feasibility study for a new community wellness center.  The recommendation will now be sent on to the Decorah City Council.

The action is in preparation for a voter referendum on whether to build a gym and fitness center in Decorah.  The architectural firm will develop drawings and designs for a new wellness center.

Decorah Park-Rec Board president Kent Klocke said the information an architectural firm would provide will be useful.  "We can build it, but can we (afford to) operate it," he asked of the Wellness Center.  That information would be gathered before any voter referendum.
