St. Benedict School 8th grader Josephine Berlage is the Scholastic Challenge 2013 state champion for Iowa. 

The Scholastic Challenge is sponsored by the American Scholastic Achievement League.  Students are given one hour to complete 100 multiple-choice questions covering a variety of subject matter.

Over 17,000 middle school students from around the United States participate each year in the program, an entertaining and challenging enrichment activity that allows them to demonstrate a variety of problem solving skills and knowledge in many academic areas.
