Prior to the trip, 4-H Citizenship members participated in a two year educational program studying both the local and national governments. Last year the members learned about the local, area and state governments and traveled to the State Capitol in Des Moines to meet with local government officials. This year the youth have been learning about the federal government as well as national history before traveling to Washington D.C.
