Decorah resident Jacky Budweg, her husband, Ward, and Decorah HS teacher Jeff Friedhof are on a 100-day bicycle trip around India.

Now comes word that Jacky had to make a trip to the emergency ward, but it wasn't because of a bicycling accident, but because of a bathroom sink.

The three had stopped for the night in Mathura, India, to take advantage of air conditioning.  Jacky finished taking a shower, was drying herself and used the sink to balance herself so she would not slip on the wet floor.  That's when the rusty brackets holding the porcelain sink to the wall broke away and the sink crashed to the floor.  Jacky slipped and fell on the broken chunks of porcelain sink.  Her right bicep was cut  badly.

The hotel staff, accompanied by Ward and Jeff, took Jacky to an emergency room.   Doctors put in 9 stitches.  The cost for the emergency room and doctor was the equivalent of $20, while the antibiotic drugs and supplies cost another $13.

Jacky will not be able to ride a bicycle for a while, so the three took a truck taxi from Mathura to New Delhi to stay there for a few days.
