A judge has ordered a Decorah woman convicted on three separate charges in an alleged scam to repay $113,751 to another Decorah woman.

Christina Gray is serving five years probation after receiving two consecutive ten year prison sentences that were suspended.  Gray pleaded guilty to first degree theft, first degree fraudulent practice and commission of unlawful activity for borrowing $98,200 from Linda Henning of Decorah and not paying it back, as well as for taking money from a second woman.  As part of the criminal case, Gray was ordered to repay the money.

But Henning also filed a civil lawsuit against Gray to get the money repaid.  Now a judge has ruled that Gray must repay the loan, as well as over $15,000 in interest charges and $3,400 in attorney's fees.  Henning did not seek punitive damages against Gray.

The judge concluded that Gray had made "false representations" in her dealings with Henning.
