18 students from St. Benedict's School have learned "Math is Magic." They participated this week in the 9th annual Math is Magic competition held at St. Patrick School in Waukon, which attracted teams from nine area schools.
Students competed in six different categories, including the Calculating Quiz Bowl, Nimble Number Negotiators, Put the Pencil to the Paper, Teach to Learn Presentations, Board Game, Never "Board" with Math, and Go Write With Math.
In the "Put the Pencil to Paper" category, Jackson Berlage earned first place among 6th graders, while fourth grader Isabella Smith took second among 4th graders. In the "Nimble Number Negotiators" category, the team of Ryan Johanningmeier, Clara Rooney, Joseph Seo and Cassidy Carolan earned second place. And 6th grader Erica Bouska brought home a second place medal for her "Go Write With Math" book.
