The Decorah City Council has accepted a bid of just under $342,000 from Skyline Construction of the reconfiguration of the Claiborne Drive/State Street intersection. The project will begin right after school is dismissed late this spring.
The bid for the project was around $16,000 higher than the estimate. Lindsay Erdman of Erdman Engineering said most of the additional cost came from a jump in the price of asphalt. Street Committee chair Gary Rustad urged the city council to approve the bid, saying the intersection "is one of our top priorities to get done." The bid was accepted on a 7-0 vote.
