Weather Service places chances of spring flooding in Decorah at less than 5 percent

Conditions could change quickly, of course, but the latest flooding forecast from the National Weather Service Office in La Crosse should be comforting to Decorah residents.

The NWS has placed the chances of even minor flooding on the Upper Iowa River at less than 5 percent so far this spring.  Flooding chances are slightly higher in the Dorchester area--from 20 to 25 percent.  The Weather Service says this spring's snow melt has been gradual and at this point at least, there's just a small chance of flooding on the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
