Girl Scouts say proposal to close all four camps "Is off the table"

Officials with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois say they are "look(ing) forward to reaching a position in which we are all on the same page; able to fulfill the organization's mission to the girls while responsibly investing in the future of our outdoor experiences."

The statement was issued Wednesday afternoon in the wake of the cancellation of the board meeting scheduled for March 28th, which had originally been scheduled to vote on a committee's recommendation to close Camp Tahigwa in Allamakee County and three other Girl Scout camps.

Instead Girl Scout officials will hold "a collaborative work session" Thursday to revise the property committee's recommendations.

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois say they will provide updates on the GSEIWI website, as well as on Facebook.
