On-line petition is calling on the Iowa Legislature to ban frac sand mining in the state

As Winneshiek County supervisors continue their discussion of the frac sand mining issue, a citizens group is mounting an on-line petition asking the state legislature to ban frac sand mining statewide.

The petition on credoaction.com calls on state legislators says "Elected officials at state and county levels hold the future of Iowa in their hands, and if this industry proceeds without extremely tight controls, the degradation could well exceed all other damages since white settlement; and the social fabric, tax burden, and quality of life in rural communities could be negatively impacted for decades, if not forever."
