Jennaya Robison has been named the director of Luther College's Cathedral and Aurora choirs and an assistant professor of music. Robison will begin her duties at Luther in the fall, replacing Sandra Peter, who joined the Luther faculty in 1991.
From 2002-05, Robison was a guest alumni lecturer at Luther where she taught voice and conducted Cantorei. During this time she was also the conductor of the Northern Lights Women's Choir of Northeast Iowa and served on the music staff of Decorah Lutheran Church.
After leaving Decorah, Robison held teaching positions at the University of Arizona and the University of New Mexico. Lately she has been serving as director of music ministry at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, Arizona and the artistic director of choirs and orchestras at Scottsdale Musical Arts.
Robison also has performed as a soloist with a number of ensembles, debuting with the Tucson Symphony and other groups including Arizona Opera, Scottsdale Arts Orchestra, Rochester Choral Arts, the Scottsdale Symphony, St. Andrews Bach Society, Tucson Masterworks Chorale and Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque.
A 1996 graduate of Luther College, Robison holds a bachelor's degree in music, as well as a master's degree in conducting and voice performance from the University of New Mexico. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in choral conducting through the University of Arizona.
