A rural Decorah man has been sentenced to nearly one year in jail in a case involving charges that he kicked one of his sons on the leg.

54-year-old James Bachmurski had originally been charged with a Class D felony of child endangerment, along with two misdemeanors in connection with incidents involving his two sons.

Appearing in Winneshiek County Court this week, Bachmurski agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of "Assault Causing Injury," a serious misdemeanor.  He was sentenced to 338 days in jail, with credit for time already served.  He was also fined $425 and ordered to pay $40/day for the cost of his 338-day jail stay—a total of $13,520.

Finally, Bachmurski was ordered to have no contact with his two sons for the next two years, unless the sons approve of the contact.
