Police were busy in Decorah on Tuesday, handling three traffic accidents.
At 11:15 a.m., 16-year-old Cody Phillips of Decorah backed out of a driveway on Iowa Avenue and struck a car driven by 62-year-old Katherine Johnson of West Union, causing $3,500 in damages. Police said the accident was caused by Phillips' failure to yield the right of way, but did not issue a citation.
At 3:50 p.m. 33-year-old Brent Freilinger of Decorah was ticketed for failure to maintain control when he struck the rear of a car driven by 16-year-old Kylie Hanson of Waukon on Old Stage Road. The accident caused $1,800 in damages.
At 9:30 p.m. 37-year-old Terry Swisk of Tipton, Iwa sideswiped a car belonging to 66-year-old Mark Durnan of Elgin, Iowa while Durnan's car was parked in the Country Inn and Suites parking lot. The accident caused $2,000 in damages.
