U.S. Census Bureau says Winneshiek County's population stayed steady in 2012.

Winneshiek County has gained five residents in the past year.  That's the estimate released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, which now places Winneshiek County's population at 21,061.

The increase of just five people might not sound like much, but the U.S. Census Bureau's projections have Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton and Fayette counties all losing population in the last year.  Like Winneshiek County, Howard County's population remained steady in 2012, according to the Census Bureau.
