Highway 9 and Montgomery Street accident causes $4,500 in damages

Decorah Police were called to Highway 9 and Montgomery Street Monday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.when a truck driven by 42-year-old Brent Halverson of Decorah spun out of control and crashed into a car driven by 31-year-old Jason Kraus of Arlington, Iowa.

Halverson had braked to avoid hitting a red truck that had just entered his lane, but the action caused him to lose control of his truck.

Decorah Police determined that Halverson was traveling too fast for weather and road conditions, but they did not issue a traffic citation.  Neither driver was injured.
