Winneshiek Medical Center names Medical Director

Mayo Clinic Health System General Surgeon Dr. Steven Davis is Winneshiek Medical Center's new Medical Director. 

Dr. Davis received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, and completed his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  Upon finishing his residency, Dr. Davis relocated to Waterloo in 1986, where he provided general surgery services to Northeast Iowa patients until he moved to Decorah in 2012. 

Dr. Davis is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Iowa Medical Society.   He is certified through the American Board of Surgery and provides general surgery services at Winneshiek Medical Center and Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Waukon.  His past leadership experience includes president of Cedar Valley Medical Specialists, and Chief of Surgery, Director of Trauma, and Board member of Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Dr. Davis succeeds Dr. Brian Dougan, who served as Medical Director for two years, and Dr. Brad Orvis, who took on the interim Medical Director responsibilities over the past several months.
