Decorah Education Association initiates contract negotiations with Decorah Community Schools

Posted: Thu, Mar 7, 2013 7:10 PM

The Decorah Education Association, acknowledging that the state legislature "has not figured out yet what they want to do with educational funding," offered the first proposal in annual master contract negotiations with the Decorah Community School Board.

The request calls for a 5 percent salary increase, with an $895 base increase. The total additional cost of the proposal, that calls for the maintenance of the current health insurance, would amount to $455,687, or a 5.25 percent increase.

The next public meeting will be Friday, March 15, when the district presents its first counter proposal. Private negations are expected to continue after that.
